Michael Dyer, MPA, Fire & EMS Specialist
Chief Dyer began his public safety career over 40 years ago. He is a former Chief Deputy in the Los Angeles County Fire Department and retired as the Fire Chief of the Santa Barbara County Fire Department. Throughout his career, he also served as an Ocean Lifeguard Specialist, firefighter, firefighter Paramedic, firefighter specialist, Fire Captain, Battalion Chief, and Assistant Fire Chief.
Chief Dyer holds a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and a master’s degree in Public Administration from California State University, Northridge. He has also completed the Executive Leadership Program at the Naval Postgraduate School. In addition to his formal education, he is also certified as a Hazardous Materials Specialist, Paramedic, and achieved the certification of Fire Chief from the California State Fire Marshal.
Chief Dyer recently served on several statewide committees. He served on the California Joint Apprenticeship Management Board, as Chair of CALFIRE Contract Counties, and as the Chair of the FIRESCOPE Board of Directors.
