Dr. Brown is a Post-Doctorate Scholar at the Safe Communities Institute at University of Southern California’s Sol Price School of Public Policy, where she works on the police reform initiative, on the National LEWIS (Law Enforcement Work Inquiry System) Registry, and with the Department of Public Safety Community Advisory Board Co-Chairs. Dr. Brown’s work and research focus on social justice issues. She teaches macro courses in the schools of Social Work, Education, and Policy. Dr. Brown has administered graduate-level programs; created curricula, policies, and procedures; and managed staff and faculty. As principal of Brown & Associates, Inc., she has expertise on policy analysis, evaluation, strategic planning, program development, advocacy, training, facilitation, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. She has consulted on projects to improve the social welfare of individuals and to reduce the occurrence of racial, gender, and age discrimination in employment, housing, and lending. In addition, Dr. Brown has participated in place-based initiatives to increase the capacity of residents and developed strategies to increase the participation of minorities in the labor force and in politics. She has been selected to participate in Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce leadership programs and was invited to interview at the Obama White House for a political appointment to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
